Color exoplanets can tell about its fitness for life support

The new technique, proposed by scientists, allows the color of exoplanets judge about her extremophiles - organisms that can survive in extreme conditions.

Usually extremophiles hiding deep in the earth, but sometimes they are found on the surface or close to it. Scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, Germany, Siddharth Hedge and Lisa Kaltenegger investigated a number of places in which extremophiles live on the surface of the Earth,

Frequent collisions of comets expose secrets that existed 17 years

Every 6 seconds for millions of years the comet have a collision with one another near the star lying in the constellation Cetus, which can be seen on the night sky with the naked eye.

The star, called 49 China, for a long time did not allow scientists to rest - it was unclear how the star, which is about 40 million years, so can surround a giant cloud of gas, usually associated with younger stars.

The nature of the mysterious jet nebula

The source of activity jets or jets rising from a planetary nebula, are a pair of orbiting each other stars, scientists say.

The research team, led by astronomer Henri Boffin of the European Southern Observatory studied strange form of jets emitted by a planetary nebula Fleming 1, located in the southern constellation Centaurs.

Astronomers have discovered a potentially habitable planet

Found a planet that can support life on Earth. In addition, it is not so far away newly discovered planet is a so-called super-Earth.

Astronomers led by Mikko Tuomi from the University of Hertfordshire re-analyzed data from the spectrograph HARPS, concerning the star HD 40307 in the constellation Pictoris, and opened just three new planets, one of which is right in the center of the habitable zone lights.

Rehearse moon eclipse

In Australia for the lunar shadow went astronomer from Novosibirsk:

Astronomer from Novosibirsk flew to Australia to observe a solar eclipse.

Echo other people's worlds

And if the aliens once did send us a signal? And you just need to wait...

Our newspaper cannot ignore the issues of space exploration, especially in the year of such events as the recent release of the ship "Voyager 1" of the solar system or the successful landing on Mars, the largest in the history of the unit. It is understandable that you send to the interplanetary journey no one can, but it's "participate" in the study of the mysteries of the cosmos is not quite deserted on Radio Astronomy Observatory in central Russia known quickness possible.

Amazing picture of Saturn and its tiny satellite

Great picture of Saturn was recently acquiring satellite NASA Cassini, moving in an orbit around the gas giant.

Dull point in the upper part of the center of the image - which you could easily miss, taking her spot on the monitor - in fact Saturn Mimas. It is only 396 kilometers in diameter and therefore looks a dwarf compared with its giant parent planet. On close inspection, you can see on one side of Mimas giant crater, making it look like the Death Star from the Star Wars movies.
