Gliese 163 c is
classified as “sverhzemel "stone the size of the planets in our not too
big: it is estimated minimum mass of 6.9 Earth. It rotate around a red dwarf star,
making a complete rotation every 26 Earth days. Distance away from the star is
about 50 light-years away in the direction of the southern constellation
Dorado.
Watching her with the HARPS spectrograph located in Chile Observatory
La Silla, European astronomers have noticed the presence of another and the
planet, Gliese 163 b, located much closer to the luminary and making revolution
in its orbit in just 9 days.
Radius of Gliese
163 c is estimated to be 1.8-2.4 of the ground, depending on what specific part
of it are solid rock, and which - liquid water. Yes, the planet resides within
the "habitable zone" of its star, the temperature at which the
solution to be present at the surface of water in liquid form. But unlike
Earth, located almost in the center of the zone of the Sun, Gliese 163 c is at
the innermost of its boundary. Despite the fact that the star of it - just a
red dwarf planet gets from it is 40% more energy than we are from the Sun.
In short, there
is much hotter than the Earth (though not too Venus, for example, gets 90% more
solar energy than we are). While it is difficult to say that the atmosphere is
Gliese 163 c, but if it is similar to Earth's, only larger, the temperature at
the surface of the planet should hover around 60 ° C. For the most highly
developed organism harmful to the Earth, this life-threatening condition, but
for the more primitive forms - extremophiles- they should be fine. So, in
principle, nothing prevents and Gliese 163 c develops some organisms with
"extreme" (in our opinion) properties.
It is worth
noting that the flow opening potentially habitable planets all rise. We now
know of six such cases, and that is instructive, four of them were found in the
last year.
