On the way from the
International Space Station and other space vehicles that move at a relatively
short distance from the Earth, a new threat - a cloud of more than 500 pieces,
formed by the explosion of the Russian upper stage.
The explosion in orbit
rocket engine "Breeze-M" was the third explosion engine for our
country, starting in 2007; engines were left in elliptical orbits that
intersect the ISS and some satellites.
The recent failure also
left in space after a two completely charged spacecraft, NASA said in a recent
issue of Orbital Debris Quarterly News.
Interfax news agency
reported that the explosion was formed about 500 large fragments.
In general, the land
presently surrounds the cloud of more than 21,000 fragments with dimensions
exceeding 10 inches. Scientists estimate that the fragments ranging in size
from 1 to 10 cm are much more - their number is about 500,000.
