The Solar storm is a temporary disruption of the
Earth's magnetosphere. Associated with a coronal mass ejection (CME), a
coronal hole or a solar flare is a shock wave incoming solar wind between 24
and 36 hours after the event. This only happens if the shock wave travels
toward Earth. The solar wind pressure on the magnetosphere will increase
or decrease depending on solar activity. The solar wind pressure changes
the electrical currents in the ionosphere. Magnetic storms last 24 to 48
hours, but can last for several days.
