A team of astronomers
has revealed the first system known to harbor seven Earth-sized planets around
an individual star (called TRAPPIST-1b, c, d, e, f, g and h). Three of these
planets lies within the habitable zone, the area around the star where a rocky
planet could hold liquid water on its surface, a key to life as we know it.

Kepler Spacecraft Should Pin Down 'Alien Earth' Planets Despite Glitch
NASA's planet-hunting
Kepler spacecraft should be able to achieve its primary mission goal regardless
of whether or not it can bounce back from a recent malfunction, researchers
say.
Kepler launched in
March 2009 on a 3.5-year prime mission to determine how common Earth-like
planets are throughout the Milky Way galaxy.

A galaxy settled by traveling planets
The endurance of
planets lonely worlds turn around a star, but float alone traveling in space.
Far from being an exception, these planets, which may have been expelled from
their systems, are very numerous. Researchers from the Kavli Institute for
Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (KIPAC), an independent laboratory of
Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, believe that, in fact, there are
100,000 for every star that exists in our galaxy. The Milky Way is full.

Our Solar System
Our solar system consists of its major star, the Sun and a set of body is not
just about the eight planets now known, that because the August 24, 2006 the
International Astronomical Union meet in Prague which was define planet or to
be careful as such or the function of the sound "planet" Pluto was
leaving because their individuality do not conform to what is intended by the
planet, so going to be a planetoid and for that reason, our Solar System now
includes nine planets, but eight, this termination is due to the amount of
various bodies that have different sizes orbiting like planets around the Sun
as asteroids, comets, meteoric bodies, interplanetary dust and gas, which make
this set we call the solar system.

AROUND TWO SUNS THRIVE NASA TELESCOPE TO FIND PLANETS
Using the Spitzer Space Telescope NASA astronomers have
observed that planetary systems - dusty disks of asteroids, comets and possibly
planets - are so abundant in double star systems as single stars in systems
such as ours. Since more than half of all stars are twins, or binaries,
the finding suggests that the universe is full of planets with two
suns. Sunsets on some of those worlds would resemble that of Luke
Skywalker's planet, Tatooine, where two fiery balls dip below the horizon one
by one.
