NASA prepared to tackle asteroid

You say that again smacks of Hollywood, but American scientists continue to practice in an attempt to find ways of fighting such space objects like asteroids. One of the latest developments in this direction was the project hypersonic interceptor for asteroids (HAIV). This project was born in the depths of the institution as a research center of reflection asteroids (in the U.S. there is such), working at the University of Iowa. The program itself is implemented as part of a large research program of NASA.

Global warming will kill 100 million by 2030

More than 100 million people will die by 2030 because of global warming, and the global GDP will disappear by 3.2%. These data are presented in the report on the impact of climate change on humanity, humanitarian organization DARA prepared for the government of 20 developing countries.

Hot Gas: Astronomers discover galaxy veil

An international team of astronomer’s joint data from the observatory NASA's Chandra X-ray, space observatory ESA's XMM-Newton and Japan's Suzaku. From these data, scientists have unspecified that our galaxy is surrounded by a halo of hot gas that extends in all directions for hundreds of thousands of light years. In this study, the researchers want to understand why, in the early galaxies gone more than half of ordinary matter, without leaving a trace.

The Indo-Australian lithosphere plate cracked in two

Because of a series of the strongest earthquake near the Indonesian island of Sumatra split Indo-Australian lithosphere plate, which, according to scientists, can lead to disasters throughout the world, which will continue for several years?

A series of aftershocks occurred in April of this year. It led to a split in the Indo-Australian lithosphere plate in two. The results of observations of scientists published in the journal Nature.

New Galaxy opens a window into the early universe

A team of astronomers from the "Johns Hopkins University (Johns Hopkins University) stated that this galaxy may well be the most distant ever discovered, according to known as MACS 1149-JD, it gives an idea of the most distant epoch in cosmic history, as the light coming from the faint galaxies shine on, when the universe was only 500 million years - or 3.6% of its current age.

Impact of the black hole will destroy Earth in 2014

According to astrophysicists, the Earth is forthcoming cloud of unknown origin, which deletes everything in its path. It came from a black hole - at a distance of 28 000 light years from earth. Astronomers are watching for a celestial body, they say that they have found a strange bunch, which has been dubbed "sowing chaos cloud" - it destroys everything in its path: comets, asteroids, planets and stars. Now he goes to Earth.

NGC 7023: The Iris Nebula

As flimsy cosmic petals, these clouds of interstellar dust and gas have blossomed 1,300 light-years away in the fertile star fields of the constellation Cepheid. Sometimes called the Iris Nebula and duly cataloged as NGC 7023, is not the only nebula in the sky to evoke the imagery of flowers.

This extraordinary image shows the range of colors and symmetries of the Iris Nebula in great detail. Among Iris , dusty nebular material surrounds a hot young star. The dominant color of the brighter reflection nebula is blue, characteristic of dust grains reflecting starlight. The Central filaments of the dusty clouds glow with a faint reddish photoluminescence caused by dust grains become radiation ultraviolet invisible star in visible red light.
