The moon in September 2012

On 22 September, the moon is half-lit and is particularly low in the sky: it is the southernmost of the decreasing half-moon of the year. New Moon is on the 16th September. The observation of the first crescent of the new moon and last time in the bright twilight is sometimes a challenge, especially in this month: Both events are theoretically to see only part of the German-speaking world and then only with the aid of optical means.

The moon

The moon is the most important desire of each amateur. The additional and superior we appreciate it, the additional we desire to identify. Its closeness make us look elder than it is, and moving quickly across the sky, where it actually runs about 12 ° per day, or about half a degree per hour (its apparent diameter).
It appears that, the unfruitful planetary shell has not changed during history known to guy because if we compare the first known maps with today, however elementary they may be does not differ in their details.

Tyco crater on the Moon

The Moon is still a goal for NASA; on June 10 last the satellite NASA Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter was able to take this dramatic image thanks to its steep orbital angle of 65 °. The image is the central peak of the crater Tyco in the southern hemisphere of the Moon.Tyco is a place known to fans as it is one of the most outstanding places on the Moon. It is located at latitude 43.37 ° S, 348.68 ° E, and has about 82 kilometers in diameter.
The height of its central peak in the image above rises 2 km above the crater floor and the distance between the bases and is 4.7 km Comber.
The complex central peak of Tyco crater is about 15 km long and is easily visible with a backyard telescope.
